Unhappy Fiesta 1.1LX '91 Central Locking Problem

Hi.
My mark 3 1.1 LX has central locking but it is a pain that i have to keep unlocking the car from the passengers side, due to the drivers side not working. It will unlock and then lock again and vice versa, when i try to get in. It is also the same when i press the lever in the inside to try to lock it. I have had a new key cut to see if it was the barrel but that seems to be fine.
If anyone has ever come across this probem b4 and knows anything bout it, please leave any suggestions for me.

Thanx
DaveWoo

lockin

Hi

I havent got central lockin but ive had the same problem witht the driver door.

i could lock it then unloack it, but if i was to lock it then use the door handle i wouldnt be able to unlock it!

i found the problem was a gold or brass coloured bracket visible once the door trim as removed on the door lockin mechanism.

If i opend the car window and locked the door, then used the door handle i couldnt then unloack it so with the window open i had a fiddle about thus finding the gold/brass bracket that moved whent he key did, if i held the bracket up the door would lock and unloack gr8 even if i used the handle etc...

i tried alsorts to fix it but i took to a m8 in a garage and he said it was easier to get a new one fitted.... cost bout 20 includin parts and labour.... used the same barrel so i didnt need replacement keys...

hope this helps

i know its not central lockin but the mechinism should be the same!

cheers

p.s. check out http://www.chatbear.com/board.plm?a=...1250&v=flatold to see how my beast to be is gettin on!

p.p.s if u want i could get a photo of the bracket i mean - if this would help!

Cheers

have found similar probs with other ford central locking systems....basically the drivers door module is overworked, compared with other side.

local scrappy should have a drivers module for about £20, or you could convert it to non central locking?
