Question 1st Gen B16 in 90 Integra???

Me and a friend of mine swapped a first gen B16A into his 90 Integra, which we also converted to a standard. Well after converting it to a standard and swapping the motor. We started the car and it doesn't want to start and we noticed the timing belt was flopping around. So we decided to change the timing belt and noticed that the water pump gear was messed up, so we changed the water pump also. While I replaced the water pump I noticed some dirt and rust coming out of the water pump chamber, so i cleaned it up. After that we crank it up and it still won't start. We got fuel and spark. So what could it be wrong. Can it be the wiring? Cus we used the automatic engine harness. Can it be the motor or he did something wrong when he took off the timing belt? Which I wasn't there to double check on how he did it. Oh another thing is he told me it started up before once, but that was before we did the timing belt and water pump. I check for the ecu to throw a code and no code. What can we do or check to see what can cause it not to start?

might just be that the timing is all off and when he did the timing belt he never lined everything up ie. cam gears, not TDC
maybe go to http://www.g2ic.com they have tons of teg tips and info on swap problems

Re: 1st Gen B16 in 90 Integra???

Yea if you don't line everything up right the motor won't run at all. One simple mestake that some people make is that they will get the intake cam gear 180 degrees off and this will cause the car not to run at all. Check that everyting lines up hen go from there.

Re: 1st Gen B16 in 90 Integra???

Well I was the one that did the inside harness. I wire it up to get the key back and to get the car cranking. But it still doesn't start up all tthe way. It sounds as if it wants to start. Its sputtering trying to start.
