Hello all. I am new here but when I read that I had to reply.

I hope you are joking. Who would want to drift that car?
I say this with love. I had an 87 2.3 auto. The car
has no rear swaybar. When I would corner hard
I would end up draging the rocker pannels on the
pavement. It was like training wheels.

If you are not joking tell your friend to go easy on
the trany. It is fords weeker one. I went through
two and at least in Indianapolis they are hard to find.
That car gave me so much trouble.
Good luck.

I am enjoying forums. Thanks all.

Re: Drifting help!

Tell your friend to ditch the 4 banger and get a real mustang. also tell him drifting is for stupid net kiddies and fan boys who watch "best motoring" all day and then imitate in their acuras and camrys.
the only good 2.3 mustang is the SVO which had a turbo and could corner like a mofo.

Re: Drifting help!

well I have almost 20k put into my mustang and I can out handle a z06.
so stuff it.
and 944's are cheap knock off porsches made for people who can't afford real ones.

Mustang's can actually do really well at drifting, actually any V8 powered sports car can do just as good as the smaller japanese counterparts.

Good low end torque coupled with a pinch of body roll and you've got a drift machine. Don't knock it till you've given it a go.

MustangRoadRacer, Why don't you take your Mustang to the next drifting event in your area. I'm sure your car would do very well, and I bet you'd actually enjoy it. Just don't get too upset if a Toyota Corolla GTS or a Nissan 240sx slides past you.

Re: Drifting help!

I don't drift because it is a waste of time.
I don't see why it is bad to spend 20k on a car that I bought fo 5k and beat a car that costs 50k.
sounds pretty sweet to me actually.

Re: Drifting help!

Ok well if you spent 20k on a 5k car its still only worth 5k.

Second my 944 has 523RWHP I can take down vipers, your mustang, O and i can garantee i can out handle a Z06. Y spend 20k on a car to make it handle ok, when you can buy a car that handles great and goes fast for 20k???

As for a cheap knock off Ask a porsche inthusiast what is a cheap knock off. Its a 924. All other Porsches are Porsches. From the factory my 1989 Turbo 944 can beat you in a straight line and out corner you any day. As for a cheap knock off. Well that is your opinion, and your intitled to it.

My opinion of your mustang is that it is a big pile of crap, that makes alot of noise, can barly go around corners, bad gas milage, ugle piece of crap. And seeing that is my opinion, there fore im intitled to it

PS I supose you are going to tell me that my 2004 Mercedes Benz SL55 AMG is a ceap knock off of a mercedes, or maby my 1996 RX7 R2 is a piece, or maby my 1982 BMW 320i Turbo, o even my beater of a 1988 Honda Prelude 2.0S, or my sisters 1984 Honda Accord 1.5S.

Re: Drifting help!

how much did you spend on your porsche?
SL55 is overpriced, but an excellent car.
RX7 is ok, but you should have bought two so that you can actually drive one while the other is in the shop.
an 82 BMW is nothing special. a BMW 2002 or an old M is cool though.
and the reason I did what I did to my car is because it was more feasable to spend money over time getting a fast car than buying one that is fast and being stuck with a stock vehicle.
and I doubt you could out handle my car.

If you think it's a waste of time, then why are you posting in this particular forum? If you have nothing constructive to say then don't visit here.

I'll I'm saying is don't knock drifting till you've tried it yourself.

Simple as that.

Re: Drifting help!

I spent 10,000 to get the porsche and another 2k to make it go like stink. So 12k in total.

The SL55 isnt overpriced since i work there. I got the best deal you could on it.

The BMW could smoke a mustang in straights and cornersto. Its a 1982 320i Turbo, its got 79, pistons and crank, reground cam, t3/t4 hibrid turbo, SLK intercooler, HKS BOV, custom piping, custom intake manifold, custom exhaust manifold, 3" exhaust from turbo back, no cat. I beat new M3's in the straights, cant corner as well but that is being fixed.

As for out hancling your car, IM shir i could. I can pull 1.5g on the skidpad. Far more than a Z06. The 944 that is. The SL55 handles nice but not that well, and the BMW isnt at its prime right now eather, getting new coilovers right now.
