electrical drain: 93 full size blazer

I have been following your discusion with trofeo1 regarding electrical drain on a blazer. I have the same problem with my 93 full size 4wd 350ci machine. I have pulled all fuses and still can see the drain on my amp meter. the only thing that i could disconnect to eliminate the drain was the main connector to the vehicle computor behind the glove compartment. Can I assume from this that I have a short in the computer module and that it needs replacing? I have taken the blazer, before I started looking into it myself, to the dealer and they couldn't find anything. So I am hesitant to return it to them for another look. Thanks for you help.

i could be wrong, isn't the first time, but i don't think you pulled all the fuses. check again, pull and keep out each fuse. attach a mutimeter to the battery, instead of waching the gage. every car and aircraft i've worked on has a circuit breaker or a fuse protecting each and every electrical component, with the exception of the starter. one of the fuses you pull should protect the gages (including the amp gage). a few questions: is the truck off, key turned but not running, or is it running? what is your starting voltage, how big of a amp draw? ask yourself these questions after pulling each fuse. if you do pull all the fuses and still have a amp draw, then i would look at all the wires that are not protected by fuses such as your battery cable, ect... pick up a haynes book or a wiring prints from a garage. it will aid in your troubleshooting. let me know what you find out.

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear. I did have a multimeter attached in line with the battery. It's been a while since I checked the draw, but I seem to remember it was .10 amps. I had every fuse removed form the fuse panel and with no change in the load, key in off position. with all fuses out I then went to to power connection terminal on the fire wall and started removing leads from it. when I removed one of the leads the draw stopped. I then followed that lead throught the firewall to inside the cab and found the other end, which ended in the computer box connecter behind the glove compartment. I reattached the power lead to the terminal and disconnected the computer connector from the computer and the the power draw was still gone. when I reconnected the connector to the computor the draw returned.
