How do I remove an autom. transm shift knob?

Hi, I have an automatic transmission 2003 Mazda Protege ES. The shift knob is all black and doesn't look good. It doesn't have any buttons (actually looks like a manual knob).

I want to install an after-market shift knob like the one from Momo. How do I remove the current shift knob? I am sooooo new to cars...

Thanks in advance!!

Also maybe you can recommend some nice looking shift knobs...Thx!

All you have to do is unscrew the knob in a counter-clockwise motion. It is gonna seem stiff but it will give.

there is no replacement b/c no one makes one to fit the o/d button on bottom. I'm sure you could fab up something but why mess with all that whan we already have a real comfortable and functional one there.
