Removal of manual shift knob from 2002 Wrangler
How do I remove the shift know from my manual shifter. I have tried several times to unscrew it but I can't get it to budge. What else can be holding it on? I'm afraid if I turn it too hard I'll break something.

It screws on/off, to the best of my knowledge. You might be able to hold the shaft with a wrench while turning the knob.

Re: Removal of manual shift knob from 2002 Wrangler
I think I remember that there is a nut holding the knob on -- the knob screws on, then the nut is tightened above that on the shift lever, and the whole thing is covered by a snap in piece with the shift pattern label. I managed to unscrew mine a few years ago by twisting *really* hard on the knob (bad day in traffic, I think). Don't try too hard, but if that doesn't work, the manual says to pop the plastic (?) cover out (careful not to gouge the knob).

And now that I think about it, I've seen shift knobs that have a small Allen head screw holding them in place.

You could always swing by the stealership, get friendly with a maintenance guy and ask him to tell you.
Worked for me a couple times.
