DEAD Transmission!
As usual, this car loves me to death, then kicks me in the teeth....lol. Well, as you might have read, my tranny just died, and I need to get a new one. I know that the tranny is a 4T80E, but I was wondering about the two different types thing. I know that there was a specific transmission that came on the autobahn package, and one that also came on the regular package.....how can you tell which is which? I'm not exactly too sure where to look (if it were rear wheel drive, I'd be all over it!
 ) If anyone knows, I would greatly appreciate the help. Thanks!btw, for anyone who was about to make a joke about the reliability of this car, this tranny lasted me 163,000 miles....good enough?

Do you remember if you run 62 mph at 2k rpm or 66?
62 => Autobahn, 66 => Standard. Another way is open the trunk and remove the right side trunk liner by the power antenae and look at the build sheet, if you find QQX option its got the autobahn. And another possible way is to check the driver door tire loading sticker, if is say's V rated tires then its most likely an autobahn. Hope this helps.

Build sticker on back side of spare tire cover also. I would find a GOOD trans shop and have it rebuilt. If ordering a brand new one, make sure they can prove the final drive ratio that's in it. It may be coded into the casing number that's stamped onto the trans body, but not sure if there's any other way to tell from the outside.

Ok, I have determined which version my Aurora is (autobahn), but I still need to know what 4 the digit transmission identification number is. Anyone have a clue which that is on the autobahn? I'm sure it's a 4 number id on the casing of the transmission, but once again, I don't know where to look on the casing (it's covered in hydraulic fluid). Thanks for all your help so far, I'm further than I was! Later!
