Question 1/24 Hyundai/Citroen 2001 WRC ???

Has anyone come across a 1/24 model of the Hyundai Accent?

I noticed from their catalogue, that Airfix are doing the new Citroen WRC in both 1/24 and 1/43 scale. I've only found the 1/43 so far. I believe it's originally sourced from Heller.

How do these kits weigh up?

It's ages since I did an Airfix kit - I liked making Airfix/Matchbox planes when I was about 10...

Will it be worth buying the 1/24 version if it ever gets released?

I know we're all Tamiya snobs on here, but an objective view would be nice... :silly2:

Regards
Mark

Steve has the Citroen. It's pants!

No Accents yet! Your best bet is 1/24 cast metal from Racing 43!

Thumbs up

As Dan has mentioned, I have the Airfix Citroen Xsara. I haven't really started it properly yet, although I have opened up most of the grills and intakes around the front of the body that were filled in. The way the kit goes together is a little different from Tamiya and the detail is perhaps not so great in some areas the finished kit should look O.K. The body shape does look pretty spot on, and if you're after completing the set of works team cars from 2001 then this is a must.
I'm also on the lookout for the Accent, possibly the Skoda Octavia(although I doubt anyone will model this) and surely someone will do the Evo VII.
Unfortunately I'm a little way off starting any of the rally cars yet, got my table full of Le Mans cars at the moment.

Steve

Tyrell

Semi assembled the kit this morning and took a couple of pics to give an idea of what the kit looks like. They're not great because the body's just bare plastic at the moment.

On another note, Wong at mediamix has e-mailed to say that he is expecting a Reji kit of the Octavia in soon. I've found a review on the net, link below. It's 1999 season but maybe a decal set will become available for the 2001 car.

Thanks Steve
(You can call me Mark, BTW)

I've took a look at the link, and I want one...

Now... Where to get one???

Where d'ya get yours?

Not a manufacturer I've heard of before.

...Is it me? Or are us Brits the only ones interested in WRC?

(All posts on this thread - so far - are from the UK).

Mark,

I only found out about the Skoda this morning, Wong at mediamix must have read my reply and e-mailed me saying he was expecting this kit in(he is in singapore I think). Reji models, I have not heard of before but they are a Czech company, so no real suprise that they are making the Skoda kit. I have replied to Wong asking if he can find out if a 2001 version of the kit or a decal set will become available, I'll let you know.

What do you reckon to the Citroen?

Steve

Sorry. I lost the plot a bit there.

This is the Airfix Citroen? is it 1/24 or 1/43?
(Tad difficut to tell the scale).

Either way, the detail seems a bit shallow compared to Tamiya's stuff. Although, generally it doesn't look too bad...

We're all used to the sharpness of Tamiya panel-lines etc, now.

I'm sure it'll turn out brilliantly though (You being a master modeler, an' all)...

I've had some difficulty finding the 1/24 Citroen. My local "Big W" (Woolworth's Megastore) has some 1/43 scale in at £5. Spotted them whilst dragging my mother round, Xmas shopping, last week...

Airfix are doing a 206 WRC in 1/24 too, according to their catalogue - Wonder how that'll compare to Tamiya's...

Cheers
Mark

Skoda and Citroen

Hi all,

Reji has released the 1999 Skoda Octavia and it is being shipped to me right now. They plan to release the 2001 model early next year. Please email me if you're interested.

Airfix Citroen is in both 1/24 and 1/43 scale. It is using Heller mould. I've got the 1/24 kit but the quality and details are really way below Tamiya, even if it's sold at half the price. So I won't bother about the Airfix/Heller Peugeot 206 WRC kit.
cheers,
Wong

Mark,

That's the 1/24 kit, I don't do any 1/43 scale kits, can't be asked fiddling around with tiny bits and pieces. I have the Tamiya Peugeot 206 2001WRC already, I'm not sure but isn,t Airfix's Peugeot the 2000 car?

Good news about the Skoda though.

Steve

Octavia

Maybe you guys should find someone in the Czech Republic who could help you with the kit? Maybe there are some AutomotiveFurums members from there? The kit looks nice... although there are no underside details... I'd say go for it!

The Skoda looks great simply because or it's rarity!

I love the fact you guys (Well, Steve certainly!) can have the self control to collect certain kits from one rally or one race!

Good luck on the Skoda Steve, and as usual we will have the great write up and finished pics!

Just the Hyundai to go now then!

Good on ya - My thoughts precisely.

I was tempted to buy the 1/43 Xsara in the absence of the 1/24, but now I know it's out, I'll have a scout around.

Yep. You're quite correct. (My excuse is that I quickly flicked through the Airfix catalogue whilst looking for my next Tamiya model).

I'm making an ass of myself on my own thread (again). Please excuse me while I go and sit in the corner. Anyone seen my pointy hat???

I have the 2001 Peugeot, too, but I want to finish a few of my "nearly done" models, before I even consider taking my airbrush to that one!

(I am Looking forward to trying to make the figures convincing, though!)
