Good morning,
I just returned from NJ State vehicle inspection where my 1993 Astro with 239,125 miles on a "Z" engine failed the NOx (Nitrous Oxides) emission test. NJ Standard to Pass: 893 Mine: 1637 After reading other threads in this forum, it looks like I am going to need a new EGR valve... or at least clean the old one. Can anyone tell me how to locate the ERG valve on my engine? Can I do it from under the hood, or do I need to remove the inside cover? Any other information would be greatly appreciated. The Astro also failed because of: STEERING WHEEL LASH. Any info on this would also be appreciated. |

Re: 1993 Astro 240,000 miles - Failed Emission NOx test
Failures for high NOx emissions typically point to EGR problems, either on the control side or the valve itself not opening. Ray
