SVT focus VS. 02-03 SI

just wondering if any svt's have raced an si and it went, whether you have any bolt-ons, or if they did.

The SVT is a shade faster to 60 mph and the 1/4 mile. But they are almost identical.

it all depends on the year civic si. If a 2002-up then yeah the SVT will beat it. if a 99-00 the SVT will be looking at some civic taillights. The SVT boast only 10 more HP than the SI and about 200 more pounds. Yeah its got more torque too, but it is a law of engine physics that 2 cars with the same HP (or near same) The one that can rev higher will out run the other. And with the civic redlining at 8200RPM the SVT doesn't stand a chance. The SVT will eat the civic off the line, but when the SVT shifts to second, the Civic still got another 2000Rpm's to go through not including the pull of VTEC. I have never personally raced a SVT with my Del Sol (same engine as civic SI) but i'll just say i feel confident in my car.

Talking

The svt will smoke the si by 2/3 car lanes... I know i smoked two my self. I have a 03 svt and i smoked a 98 & and a 01, but the 98 gave more of a battle. Probably because it was fixed up better. Doesn't matter though because still smoked it. all i have on my svt is a aem cold air intake. the next thing im going to do is get the diablo sport ship for my car. Ohh yeah i'm getting my magnaflow cat back sytem this weekend

umm... how is it a law of engine physics that even tho one motor makes more horsepower and torque (which by the way horsepower is just a way of expressing torque, it doesn't actually exist) than another motor if the lower powered motor has more rpm's it will out run the other?
the reasoning of your entire comment makes no sense what so ever. by your reasoning if my crx redlines higher than a C5 vette i can out drag it because i've got higher revs?
i've seen SVT Foci kill 99-00 si's and the newer 02-04 si's. they have more power, better gearing and weigh about the same ammount.
i'm sorry but your post here doesn't make any sense at all...

Re: Re: SVT focus VS. 02-03 SI

Alright, let me set this straight. My bro has a bonestock SVT Focus (at least performance wise) and he beat a 03 Civic Si in a revving contest and straightaways. It might be because normaly Civics dont have as good gearboxes as the SVT's 6 speed Getrag, but I doubt it. A bone stock SVT can beat the Civic Si. Not to mention the SVT Focus looks a hell of alot better than the pos Civic (sorry, I am a ford guy).

And if you saw the commercials the Civic looks like a bald guy with a hooked nose and Motor Trend hated it, if you want the article I'll scan it.

Re: SVT focus VS. 02-03 SI

A Civic Si 5spd should stay with the SVT.

If two cars have about the same power/weight, the one that will rev higher will get ahead. That is the only advantage the Si has other than a little less weight. Now, someone was talking around corners.... Sorry guys, but I think the Honda would be better. Better center of gravity, a suspension (even stock) that is better suited for touring-on road racing than the SVT.

Sorry, but the corners is where the Focus really shines. You are aware of the Focus's passive rear steer ability? The rear trailing arms flex and allows the rear wheels to turn.
Handling is what the Focus is all about.
