Z34 Alternator
Can anyone tell me the size of bolt that holds the bearing in for front wheel axle ?
I'm pretty sure its a 36mm, but can someone confirm that for me. Also can some tell me the size of Allen Key to remove brake caliper brackets ? Again I'm pretty sure its a 3/8, but can someone confirm that for me. And last of all, Has anone removed the alternator on thier Z34 with some success ? And if so is there a easir and better way to remove it ? Thanx |

Anybody ?
Can anyone help with this, I got the Cliper bolt off after gettting a nice heavy duty Torx with a half inch drive. I need to get the axle nut off and I bought a 36mm Socket for it but fits kinda sloppy.
Is the size correct or is it in SAE. Can someone let me know... Thanx |

take off the transaxle terminals. WHat I do is loose the front chasis and let the engine fall a little then the alternator will reveal itself. Is a little bit easier but not as easy as removing the alternator from the Grand Prix of Chevy Blazer. |

Engine Cradle
I'm not to fond of lowering the engine cradle, but I know it might make it easier. I'm gonna try to remove the axle first and take it from there.
Thanx for the post though and your input. Ciao |

Ok Stuck now
I have removed almost everything. I have the axle out, but it seems that the hub part is still connected to the tranny... Does that part have to come off ? If so is it easy to remove without damaging it ?
Also to lower the cradle there are only 2 15mm bolts on the back side right ? Are those the only ones I would need to take off ? I need some better tools, those damn cradle bolts are in there good. My impact and 3/8 socket drive just don't cut it. Any good way to remove those cradle bolts succesfully ? Any help would be appreciated Thanx |

the easyest way to take alternater out is remove tire look under rotor thie are 4 7/16 bolts u need 2 wrenches to do this take them out pire down on lower control arm pull out on rotor then pull the c/v with it still hooked to rotor and alternater well come out thru where the c/v was then put it all back make sure the c/v lockes in when u push it back into the tranny

Re: Z34 Alternator
Make sure that you tighten the Caliper brackets bolts per the proper spec. They have a nasty habbit of comming loose and falling out. Can cause lose of control; if at speed and the wheel locks up . Seen it happen, Torque it to the Spec.
