My rear left speaker is always cutting out. What i mean by this is it works perfectly for about a week and then all of a sudden stops and doesn't work for like 2 weeks. Then it works perfectly for 3 weeks and stops again, (works and stops randomly),etc... Does anyone know if this is a problem with my deck or could it be that one of the wires are losing contact right behind the deck? I have checked the connection on the speaker itself and it's OK. Thanks.

Re: Grand am '96 stereo problem...
i would guess there is a frayed wire somewhere on the way to that back speaker, one way to check is to wait until it stops working, and then take the stereo out. attach a AA battery to the positive and negative ends of the rear left speaker (should be labeled) and go to the speaker end with a voltometer and see if you get a current. if not, you'll need to somehow replace those wires, that i have no idea how to do

Re: Grand am '96 stereo problem...
it should be one of the wires that is loosing contact...bucause you said that it works fine for about a week or so. So there is no way it is the head unit. I would check all of the wires that are running from the back of the harness.
