HVAC/PTC Technology Core Group

Job Title: Technology Core Group Engineer Revision Date: 10/28/03

Job Description:

Develop and manage Engineering Program Plans for the application of Automotive HVAC and Powertrain Cooling Systems in support of new business activity. Provide Technical support and guidance for current program activity

Typical Duties:

· Engineering lead responsibility with OEM’s on developing specifications and packaging strategies for future vehicle architectures prior to OEM sourcing activity.
ü Document vehicle system and component requirements and communicate to all areas of the Organization.
ü Lead the negotiation of interface requirements.
ü Provide direction on design criteria.
ü Seek and create opportunities to implement content that will result in enhanced subsystem competitiveness for cost, quality and performance.

· Participate in preparation of engineering material for new business quotation.
ü Review Customer Statement of Requirements.
ü Develop initial Program Plan.
ü Complete Engineering designs for quotation.
ü Conduct component and system analysis and testing on mule level components as required to validate performance to requirements.
ü Conduct market segment benchmarking.

· Insure Vehicle Technical Specifications are defined, communicated and validated.
ü Conduct component and system analysis and testing as required to validate performance to requirements.

· Develop, allocate and balance the HVAC/PTC Sub System and Component Level Technical Specifications.
ü Manage benchmarking data.

· Lead and maintain a positive engineering interface between the customer engineering organization and our client.

· Develop and maintain Design Best Practices and Lessons Learned.

· Conduct Market Research to identify technology trends and identify breakthrough opportunities.

· Support Technical Design Reviews after business award.
ü Design phase evaluations, Peer Reviews.
ü Assess Technical correctness to Design Best Practices and Lessons Learned.

· Provide engineering support to the Component Design Group on focused component or system integration issues to insure a successful on time program launch.


Technology Core Group Engineer

Qualifications Preferred and Training Required:

· BSME/ MSME with Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics emphasis preferred.

· BSME and 7 - 10 years HVAC/PTC design experience.

· Understands CAD-CAM-CAE capabilities.

· Understands design/release and change processes (customer and internal MCC/MHI).

· Has functional knowledge of HVAC/PTC Systems.

· Understands customer requirements (quality and timing).

· Demonstrated experience in vehicle packaging/architecture and integration.

· Strong interpersonal and communications skills.

· Team building and leadership abilities.

· Understands future product and process technology.

· Fundamental knowledge of planning, scheduling and controlling.

· Problem solving skills.
