Not quite sure what your question is, can you type a bit more clearly?

Either way I'll try to answer you, Subaru changed the Impreza for the US market in 2002 to the 'bug eye' version, prior to that there was no US market WRX, we only got the 2.5 RS.
You're not going to import a JDM pre-2001 WRX for under the price you're talking and any car claiming to be a true WRX on ebay is either a private import of a conversion on a pre-2002 USDM.
Either way, if the car is going for under 10,000 I would be wary of it, it's likely been beat senseless by the owner and that's regardless of whether it's the victim of an engine swap or an imported WRX.

My opinion anyway.

Yes the RS is AWD, all the current Subaru models are AWD, it's rated at 165HP, I don't know what it gets at the wheels though.

You really don't have any clue about the cars you're looking at do you?

Perhaps you should spend some time doing some research

The 2.5 RS is N/A (hoping you know what that means), the WRC is turbocharged.
300 HP is achievable but expect to spend money.

How old are you?

I know a lot of the local guys that autocross and they all run RWD cars, like RX7's and Silvia's, they prefer the RWD on the hard stuff because it is easier to slide around the tight turns.
Unless you have some special hidden skill in setting up an AWD you're not going to get one that will slide.

My friend Dan smokes a modded WRX all the time with his Silvia.

You could buy a turbo kit for the USDM 2.5RS but its a lot of work for little gains. I used to look to find a true JDM Pre-2001 WRX but have yet to see one on ebay. They are nice cars but if you're gonna go with a wrx, go 2002 and up, more bang for the buck. If you're looking for a good track car for fairly cheap, go with like a 89 240sx and drop a sr20det or sr20dett engine in it, great drifting car or just mod out the k18 or k24 engines. If money isnt an issue, buy a new STi for track use.

Do you try to spell words incorrectly on purpose?

2.5RS's are easily just as good as WRX's on auto-x. Throttle response and powerband > peak power.

And both cars are excellent auto-x cars.
