hard starts in the rain and a.m.
Oh how I hope someone can help me. My 1993 4.3L Vortec has given me so many problems lately. About 6 weeks ago I had to replace the fuel tank and sending unit. Since then the vehicle has given me problems starting in the morning when we have had a night of wind or rain (it's outside). Today was the first day that I could not get it to start at all and we did have havy rain last night. My mechanic has checked the plugs and they are okay...where to look next? Also I went to a local tire & muffler center to get a transmission flush & fill and they refused to do it because the vehicle has 108k on it and they said that if the transmission had any problems a service could "push it over the edge" is this true? If so what do I do to maintain the transmission? Also could anyone tell me how to go in and edit my profile...I can't figure it out. Thanks so much for the help. - Jo-Ann

Re: hard starts in the rain and a.m.
My '95 was stored outside and have had this problem twice in 3 years and not since I started parking inside.
If you can put a hair dryer on the ignition coil for a few minutes to dry it out and then it starts, replace the coil. |

Re: hard starts in the rain and a.m.
Check distrubitor cap for cracks, moisture there can cause the problem like that.
