I have a Cutlass Ciera, 1992, 3.4L. It stalls after about 20 miles, or so. If I let it set for a few minutes, it will start and it will stall again in 5 or six miles. When it sets, I can sometimes hear a very faint dull click sound under the hood. The sound is barely noticeable, but then the car will start and run. When I first noticed this problem, I took a stab at the ECM. I replaced it using the original EPROM chip. I took it on a long (150 mile) ride. This ride was highway and at my 75 mile destination, I noticed that the vehicle was stalling when stopped with foot on brake and in drive. The car started OK a couple of times. This was a new scenario, but it ran good. The car sets for a week at a time, so I thought I just had a new small idling problem. Now, however, the car is back to its old tricks, and it seems to be stalling more at city speeds more often. This is only occurring after about 20 miles, or so. The car heats up and begins to stall out. It sets for a while and starts and runs again. This click makes me think it is mechanical. I was going to try accessing the throttle plate this weekend to visually inspect it for sticking, but I don'r know. I can't seem to replicate the problem in the garage to get a handle on it. Any help greatly appreciated...
