best sounding exhaust for trans am, many other ?'s
im buying a trans am this summer and was wondering what the best sounding exhaust for an LT1 trans am is? i dont want anything that crackles, pops, or rattles like alot of the cars you hear on the road. i was thinking of the flowmaster setup with the 70 series mufflers i think it is. also what size piping should i get, 2.5" or 3"? would putting on a hi-flow catalytic converter make the exhaust sound any different(crackle or pop more?) also if i am going to spend about 1,000 dollars in performance, what should i get? i was thinking moroso cold air intake ($200), exhaust (400), airfoil (50), pulleys (200), and maybe a new cat (150)? hows that sound?

Re: best sounding exhaust for trans am, many other ?'s
Ok...First of any of the two would beat a mustang. I would suggest an auto if you are looking to drag race more than play. Get a SLP Loudmouth exhaust, will sound awsome.. Get an SLP intake not moroso.. replace the elbow if you dont get a complete intake.. dont waste money on a foil.. Get a better fuel pump and 52mm throttle body with the hooker long tube headers, forget the pulleys for now.. those are the first few things i would do if you are just looking for bolt ons. Then you can also mess with the suspension, get lighter front end components and shit like that... well, this should get you started i hope

Go 3" on the exhaust, slp intake, and high flow cat.

What they said, 3" is included with the SLP LM exhaust, it's the way to go. Hooker or SLP LT headers, althought the SLP's will eat through the rest of that grand.

Re: best sounding exhaust for trans am, many other ?'s
what about dynomax super turbo exhaust? it sounds really nice on the 99 trans ams, is relatively cheap, and flows about twice as much as the flowmaster 50 series
