Angry 99 Jetta GL battery replacement problem

This is my GFs car so i know little about it. i replaced the battery and now the car will turn over but will not start. it seems like the anti-theft was triggered with the battery disconnect and won't allow gas to flow. Can someone help me out with this?

Re: 99 Jetta GL battery replacement problem

Maybe check the alternator . Try to get the car started and take a multi meter across the battery and neasure the voltage abd see if you get 13 or more volts... Then the alternator is good.
hope this helps??

Your car knew that it wasnt at a dealer getting the battery replaced so it decided to mess with you and shut off.

If the battery isnt the same cca as the vw one it might not start. I believe the factory cca is 540

Re: 99 Jetta GL battery replacement problem

I Replaced my battery and had a similar problem, it would crank up but ran really crappy like the timing was off, so i had a friend of mine who is a mechanic reset the computer( once the battery is disconnected it loses its memory, throttle body was actually my problem) after that was reset my alarm went off until i disconnected the battery... Would we did for that is disconnect the neg. cable and i had someone in the car and right as he tried to crank it i connected the neg. cable to the post... it tricked out the car into starting and havent had a problem since... so check and see if anything needs to be reset if not try the battery thing... sounds really retarded trust me i questioned it myself but it worked like a charm..
