My wife has a 99 grand cherokee 4x4 that needs new rubber. Currently have the OEM Goodyears, but not impressed with tread life.
Any suggestions on what's a good tire? Trying not to spend too much on it, unless general consensus is that there is no good cheap tire. Information on use: no snow use no off road use little rain, but if it rains here, it can be bad, so need good wet performance too I would like a little longer tread life (Inow got around 35K miles, is that as bad as I think it is? Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks, Peter |

Grand Cherokee > tires
Pep Boys had great replacement tires for our Grand Cherokee. have seen and heard that Khumos are also good + priced right. forget the big ticket name tires, they don't last any longer, just cost
way more. |

Khumo
I also heard Khumos are good from the BMW Message Board.
They are also inexpensive like 1/3 the price. I have always bought Michelins even though they are French Company. I have always been happy with the life, performance, ride and availability. Now for my example; 1 tire 235/60R16 H-speed High Energy Michelin $157, Same Traction, Wear and Speed rated Khumo $59. That is amazing, I am not Brand Name driven or loyal, I have not tried Khumo and I am actually leery because of the price, why are they so cheap? It gives me pause. On the other hand, I am just on the street, no great demands on my tires except for an occasional high-speed pass. I will investigate them when I need tires. PS My example is for a BMW 740iL not a Jeep Grand Cherokee. |

Re: Khumo
Try Cooper Discoverer H/T Nice tire for the price.

Another plug for Cooper Discoverer Radial.
Installed at 65K when OEM Wranglers were worn out. The Coopers ran 80,000 miles--are now bald and had no problems since installed. They were not great in mud or snow but great on highway & rain. Cost about $65 for 225/75R-15. |

I recently purchased Kuhmos for my 98 jeep limited. I was really researching on the name brands, pirelli (scorpians), bf goodrich. I was impressed with the price and the tires are great.

Coopers! I bought a set for my last truck at about $300.00. They had good traction, and wore well. I have Michelin's now $500.00. Good traction, but very noisy.
