Question Stereo Installation Problem

I was trying to install my stereo system today, and on the back of my factory deck there was a long black cord attached, It went deep into the back of my dash, too far to follow, and it was pretty tight. Im thinking it was for the CD Changer, which is an option in these cars, but not sure... Any Idea's what this cord is and how to remove it?

Also, after hooking up my amp and sub, when i turn the lights on, the stereo turns off. When i open my drivers door, the interior lights never turn on...im wondering if that sensor would cause the stereo to shut off or that mysterious black cord?? All I really did was install the remote wire, ground wire, and power wire to my car. Please help!

Re: Stereo Installation Problem

Re: Stereo Installation Problem

that wire may be the wire to the factory amp under the pass seat (if your car is equipped with this)

to avoid this situation in the future, just buy a direct factory plug wire in harness. they are around $8.00 - $10.00. and if you really are not to sure on what you are doing, its the best cheapest way to not create headaches later down the road.

in regards to the lights dimming....I had the same problem in my talon when I installed my stereo. All it was that I blew a fuse down by my feet...I believe it was the one called "room" or "cabin" or something like that! hope it helps
