2000 GP SE 3.1 ABS/TRAC light
My ABS/TRAC light was coming on now and then. Then it got worse. I took it to the dealer and they said it was something to do with the left front wheel speed sensor and that the code was cleared. I was half way home and the light came on and now its on all the time. My question is do you have to replace the hub or is there something else I should be checking? My service manual says the hub is non-repairable, but dosen't point to anything else. It just says it might be a ground fault. Thank You.

Re: 2000 GP SE 3.1 ABS/TRAC light
Most problems I see with ABS usually are wiring in nature. A broken wire tha flexs while you are drive will get you a problem and not always visible to a tech when testing the system. You can buy repair harnesses for the speed sensors. The next thing that I see going bad are the sensors itself but they cost a good dollar to change and changing on a guess would be crazy.
If I am in doubt about the cause of the ABS light I would swap the speed sensor wires on the opposite wheels and see what happens. If the problem changes sides than it is a wiring or sensor problem. Then I would use a meter and flexing the wires looking for an open or short.
