I own an 1998 Toyota Corolla. I am having a problem filling the gas tank. It clicks when you are filling it up. It will stop at $1 and then stop almost every 2-3 dollars. It's almost like it full, but it's not. I brought it to my mechanic and he couldn't find where the problem was coming from. He did contact Toyota and they said they never had a call backs for anyboby having this kind of problem. Has anybody else had a problem like this. If so, what was the resolution.
Thank you.... Lois Mazziotta |

well, simple solution, fill up the tank slowly, i think the fuel naturally backs up and the pump has a device for sensing fuel buildup so you don't overfill you're tank, if you push the gas dispensing lever about 1/4-1/2 you should have decent rate of fuel and it shouldn't quit on you, until it is actually full, you're tank should be about 13 gallons, so you can also make educated guesses as to when its truely full and when the gas dispensing nozzle was inccorrect in its assumption that you're care is full.

Re: gas tank filling problems for a 98 corolla
I Had The Same Problem With My 1998
Two Problems Existed. #1 The Vent Has A Valve Thats Sticks It Is Located In The Top Of Tank . I Used Air Presure To Blow Through It . It Is The Bigger Of The Two Small Hoses. It Leads To The Top Of The Fill Spout. #2 There Is A Flap In The Tank Just Inside The Fill Tube. I Pried If Loose . Now It Fill Easy |
