ls/vtec swap

hey guys. i was looking at importbuilder.com. i took a look at their b18b block package. http://www.importbuilders.com/block.html it's part number 0021, package number 6. it looks pretty good to me, since i was goin turbo. i was mainly looking at the ls engine, just cuz of it's build and tranny. could somebody please tell me the difference between the IB Spec Wiseco Pistons, JE pistons, or Arias Pistons? you can choose between these sets, and i don't know much about piston brands and such. also, what does balancing and polishing the crank do? what is the difference between the b18a and b18b? i was thinking of turboing this setup with a t3/t4 hybrid custom setup, or maybe even a t4. sorta thinking that the t4 is too big. tell me what you guys think.
thanks

Well, I'll answer the question about the difference between the B18A1 and B18B1.

The B18A1 is from 90-93 Integra's that were not a GSR model.

The 90-91 B18A1 had 130hp@6000 rpm and 121 ft/lbs of torque at 5000rpm.

The 92-93 B18A1 had 140HP@6300 rpm and 126 ft/lbs of torque@5200 rpm.

The B18B1 is from 94+ Integra's that were not a GSR or Type-R model.

The 94+ B18B1 142 HP @ 6300rpm and 127 ft/lbs of torque @5200rpm

I hope this helped a bit.

Also, the 90-93 B18A1 had a cable tranny and a mechanical speedo.
92+ civics and 94+ Integra's used a hydro tranny and a electronic speedo. That being said, the B18B1 has a hydro tranny and an electronic speedo.

Also, the B18A1 came non-obd in 90-91 I believe and OBD1 in 92-93. The B18B1 was OBD-I in 94-96 I think, and OBD-II 97+.

As far as I am concerned, its 6 one way and half a dozen the other. I am using and know of several that are using JE's. I know of several using Wiseco, and I know of a 900+hp Supra using Arias. I dont know of the actual differences though.

I have heard more good things about the JE's than any others for turbo, but don't have any personal experience with them and boost. Also try a T3/T4 hybrid turbo that will be a good choice for your application.

Well, when they balance the crank, they actually balance the whole rotating assembly, crank, rods and pistons. They are looking for any slight wobble that might might occur. They will grind off, I am talking very very little, the parts that are creating the wobble. When they polish the crank journals, they are essentially smoothing out the contact surface, therefore reducing friction.

IMHO, I would not worry about either of these too much unless you are real serious about modding/racing.
