'94 3.0L lacks power?

I have a 94 Ranger with a standard shift transmission. I love my truck except for the fact that it has no "get up and go." Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get more power out of this motor?

engine restore- silver can, you can get this at any auto parts store. Add a can when doing your next oil change. makes it work like brand new

Speed costs $$ ! How fast do ya want to go? There are some freebie mods like the air silencer removal from the airbox. Better exhaust will help. An underdrive pulley is a great mod for your particular truck - it will pay for itself in gas savings.
The master of free HP mods and a bit more - search for rougeperformance.com therangerstation.com also has a lot of useful info.
As always, a good tune up with quality parts is a great starting point. You may want to keep the RPM's a little higher. That's where the power is in the ol 3.0

I have a 93 3.0L 4X4....I too noticed it was a dog....that is until I learned to drive it. It is stock except for some modified exhaust manifolds. Mine were leaking so I bought a used set and had them plained down level. I then used my dremel tool and cleaned up the rough casting inside. When I put them on, I noticed a slight drop in torque but a small gain in HP. Once I learned to let this engine rev, that made me happy. Try running it up to 4000 rpm then shift. They are actually quite a peppy motor, and they will take a hell of a beating.
If you think the 3.0L is a dog....try stomping on it and shifting at 5,500RPM....you'd be suprised. I don't do this much, but whoa...these things have a lot of high RPM horsepower. They are a tough little motor....I had mine apart, they have big valves, roller cam and flat top pistons.
