Prelude Turbo

Hey folks this is my first post. I really need help. I'm hoping to boost my 97 lude by this summer, but I really wanna make sure it's the right choice. I'm a collage kid so this shit is expensive, and i wanna make sure im doing it right.

Right now im looking at either the F-max kit, or the Grag gen III. These things come with the FMU regulators, and the fmax comes with the MSD detonation killer too. With this setup, should i be able to install and run on stock internals @ 7psi? I really wanna do some serious work, but more than that i don't wanna blow my motor, as my parents helped pay for half the car, and they dont really know about the turbo. Please gimme some good advice, and If you have a prelude, moreover a 5th gen, youre a pimp. Peace, please any advice would be good. Ill be postin on here a lot so hopefully you can keep from getting annoyyed be me! Again, peace folks.

Re: Prelude Turbo

7psi on a internally stock vtec, yea that'd be ok. idk much more about the prelude, except similar engine to civic-just more power and bigger. post in prelude forums, might be more helpful there.

Re: Prelude Turbo

If you don't have an SH model, look into the Greddy kit. Neither the DRAG or FMAX kits are very well engineered and both qill require spending a lot more money in order to make them work properly on a street driven car. Plus, the H22 isn't as happy being boosted as the Honda B and D series motors, so you need to be a lot more careful about the setup you run on your Prelude.

If you have an SH, I'd recommend not turbocharging it at all. Just get a 50 shot of nitrous and be done with it.
