New owner of an S500 Coupe :-)
Hi :-)
I'm 17, and I just got my driving license. I told my father I want a comfy car that is powerful. To my suprise, he bought me a 1994 S500 coupe. I have a few question that I would like to know, that I wouldn't dare to ask my father, I really hope you guys can help me out. I would like to wheel-spin my car, is it possible for this this sort of weight to do so? One more question, what kind of upgrade for the exterior can I get on the market? Does AMG or Brabus provide any bodykits for the particular model? I can't seem to find any information for AMG or Brabus on this model ![]() Thanks in advance. |

sure you can burn the rubbers, turn off the traction control (if so equipped), then step on the brake and hold it there, then step on the gas.
Besides burning the tires, you are also burning your brake pads! AMG, Brabus should still have the body kits, try asking around. Also you can look for Carlsson and Lorinser. |

Is it in N gear or D?
How much does the bodykits cost? I like Brabus a little more than AMG cosmetic-wise... Powerwise is AMG for me :-) |

D, use ur left foot to step on the brake and hold it, then right foot step on gas, then the braking power will be outpowered by the big torque.

Ok, I sure don't want anything to happen to myself.
There are four sparkplugs that need replacing. The electronics are also faulty (I can't reverse or go over small hills), I got that replaced, and of course, claim the repair fees from the previous owner. |

Re: New owner of an S500 Coupe :-)
since its a 10 year old car, maintanence (cost) is a problem you have to worry about.
my family never kept a mercedes over 5 years old. for the body kits, I was looking at the Lorinser ones for the current CL-class, front & rear bumper will add up to almost $6000USD, side skirts are about $1200USD each, installation not included. I believe there are still body kits for your car, I remember seeing it in some Mercedes tuning catalogue a few months back. I don't think the price would be much different from the ones for the current models. This is the pain for owning a Mercedes. No matter how old your car is, Mercedes parts always comes in Mercedes price. |

Re: New owner of an S500 Coupe :-)
Yeah, I saw that kit in another topic here. Really nice kit! But they are just too expensive...
Is that bodykit you mentioned for the S500 Coupe or Sedan version? Does it make it more sportier? I drove my S500 Coupe to my local park yesterday morning for some jogging sessions, to my suprise, I got all the stares from everyone from the car park. I'm not use to this though... |

Re: New owner of an S500 Coupe :-)
I noticed something when I was driving it. When I drive fast (100kmh) And I brake for the upcoming hump on the road, I noticed the car skidded forward a little before slowing down.
Is it because of the velocity/weight of the car? |

Re: New owner of an S500 Coupe :-)
I believe it was a S500 coupe, and sportier? hm....not much
i understand why you get the stares, because I sometimes drove in my dad's S-class when I was 16, hehe!! hm..I don't really understand why you mean by "skid", do you mean that you feel the car being pushed forward? If thats the case then it is normal, as when you brake, the weight moves forward. |

Re: New owner of an S500 Coupe :-)
Kinda like the weight thingy you said, I think it's appliable to heavier cars only?
I don't get that problem with my Pajero Evo and Supra. I don't know whether is it the number 1 number plate or a 17 year old driving an expensive coupe or a 17 year old driving a Merc that got me all the stares... Sigh... To bad that the majority of the people who stared at me were in their 50's... No chicks in sight... lol... |

Re: New owner of an S500 Coupe :-)
Do you have any info/links to the kit you've mentioned for the S500 Coupe?
It's just so damn hard to find anything for the S500 Coupe...... |

Re: New owner of an S500 Coupe :-)
hm...not sure what your situation / problem is, I think its better for you to ask someone who can sit in your car and "feel" the problem.
The Lorinser site does still have pictures www.lorinser.com |

Re: New owner of an S500 Coupe :-)
Actually, it isn't much of a problem. I got ticked off by a busybody teacher at my school that morning.
Although it's the holidays, but I need to go back to school to hand in some form, but I was in a hurry that day. I rushed a little to the hall by driving about 100kmh in the school compound, because there was a hump in the middle of the road, I braked hard, so the car 'skidded' in front a little, therefore attracting attention from the students and teachers nearby. He told me 'This is not a race track, don't drive too fast in the school compound. And do you know that students aren't allowed to drive their vehicles in?'. I was sooo pissed off. I answered him by asking him whether he was jealous or what. It's good to be arrogant once in a while driving a Merc! lol... |
