don't waste your time street racing with an automatic. pull up your e-brake and hold it up as hard as you can, slowly hit the gas until you start burning in place. drop the brake and go.

I was told by one of my friends a way to do this, but he has no experience with this. I'm just wondering if this is correct and if this will harm the car. He said to start in L or 1 gear only and hold the brake while you rev upto 3k. Then release and go and switch to second gear when you redline. A question here, change gears on WOT? If you redline in 2nd, switch to drive, but this might not be neccesary as you can get up to around 80mph in 2nd. Is this the best way to do it? Does it harm the car? I just never changed gears on automatic while moving...

Re: lanching an automatic

it wont harm the car to shift while running and one thing you could just keep it in drive cause if you have your foot slammed it should shift at 6500 which is were you want it to at least mine does and i have sport shift so i can shift from 3rd to 4th by a push of a button course i wont get going that fast

ok, 1st, don't do neutral drops, its the quickest way to say "Bye Bye" to ur tranny.

2nd, u don't have to use ur e-brake. u can simply use ur left foot or even heel-toe it and use the normal brake to rev up w/ out moving.

thats the best way to launch an auto.

and no, its not that hard on ur brakes, so race away...
