I need help on a custom box

I was wondering if anyone knows how to explain how to make a box by scratch. I'm interested in making a sealed box that angles in. I would also like to make some other custom improvements of my own, but I have questions. If anyone can help it'll be greatly appreciated.

get yourself some plywood, not particle board, but plywood. i think that you want to use pine, im not sure maybe someone else will confirm that or not. you want 1/2in to 3/4in plywood. you'll also need wood screws, not any other kind, but wood screws and some sealant that works on wood i.e. caulk. you also need to know your geometry and how to find the area of a cube(basically). screw the boards together and then seal them with the epoxy or whatever your using. you need wire terminals that you'll need to cut a hole for and seal in. if you want it to look nice go out and buy some spray on addhesive and some carpet that you should be able to pick up from a local sound shop. i know this prolly isnt much help but maybe it will get you started

Thanks man, any help is good enough for me. I know some things but then a lot of basics i dont know. My plans right now was to cut out a chevy sign in the space between the subs. I heard a few ways but don't know if they'll work or not. One is that i heard u make like 2 chambers for the subs so there's like a board in between the subs. So wouldn't you be bale to make the space bigger. I don't know if anyone knows what i'm trying to explain, but if you can help thanks!

I'd use MDF instead of plywood, plywood will warp...

I've built many custom sub boxes, what you should do first is a search and you should be able to find many free programs that will help you calculate what the ideal volume for a certain type of sub is for a certain type of box.

Second def use MDF, if you want to get fancy and have money plexiglass or fiberglass can be your friends. Also solid oak would be great. The theory of puttin a wall between 2 subs is to prevent any bass waves from crossing inside the box on you although it's no needed cause 40 foot bass waves don't cross inside a 4 foot by 3 foot box lol

Technically, most of the audible bass that he's looking for is gonna be crossing, anything above 250 Hz or more is gonna have a wave of 4 ft or less. A 16' wave is at 62.5 Hz, and that's barely audible by the human ear. Not many people hear much below 100 Hz, so you're never gonna hear a 40 foot wave anyway. That's probably where people got the idea to put a wall between them in the first place, but again, technically, they're going right through it. There's just a delay and they're now cancelling at different frequencies than before. You can't get around cancellation when you have more than one speaker, it's just not possible...

Medium Density Fiberboard, I believe it is. You can get it from any Home Depot near you. You can get it in 3/8", 1/2", 5/8", and 3/4"...

Would I be better off to make 2 seperate boxes, and have the middle open. B/c i understand a little with the waves. But one big question i always had is does the size of the box really matter? With 2 seperate boxes it'd be better for me to do toher things i'd like but i want the sound quality to be great also. And thanks for all the help so far guys!

Example of the sound waves and size of bass waves. Have you ever noticed the bass of a car audio system will be more noticable 10-20 feet from the car than inside the car?
250HZ is way too high of a frequency to let your subs play for good sound quality(125Hz being a snare drum), You should cut frequencies to your subs around there. Yes they size of a box absolutely matters as to the sound quality and life of your subs.
