CD player install

I know nothing about cars and and need some help with my 1998 s10

i just recently bought a cd player off a friend for cheap. I was wondering if there is any easy way to install a cd player. does anyone know of a website where the process is described. or would someone be kind enough to respond with instructions on how to install. any other suggestions?

Check them out. I think you can order a diagram from them for your truck. But overall it should be a straight forward install.

Re: CD player install

Try www.installdoctor.com That's where I got the instructions on how to dissassemble my S-10 Blazer's dash for my CD player install.
They also had a good wiring diagram.

A word of advice: Buy a wiring harness at your local Best Buy or wherever(mine was $16). It makes the job SOOOO much easier.
That way you wire your radio to the harness, then simply plug the harness into the stock plug behind your dash. Very easy.

Unless your CD player is DIN 1.5 (the same size as your GM radio) you will need an installtion kit, about $15.

More than likely you will need a GM antenna adapter as well. Most aftermarket radios have the standard antenna plug hole, but after 1991 GM switched to a smaller plug. So to fit your GM antenna wire into your new radio, you'll need an adapter.($10-15)

When I replaced my radio I got new speakers as well. It is very worth it. My stock speakers were paper cone...Very low budget. But for $30-40 a pair you can get decent aftermarket speakers that sound 3x better than stock. Trust me, it's worth it.

One last thing...crutchfield has a great site for browsing, by I have found their prices to be the highest on the web. I usually browse there, then enter the part number of anything I want into a search engine to find the lowest price I can.

Good luck to you!
