Transmission will not go in Reverse

94 Lexus ES 300 V6 Auto. Will not go into reverse but all other forward gears work fine. Fluid is OK. Shift lever movement is normal. No other problems noticed. Can this be an electrical type problem or is it internal? Roughly 130,000 miles. Ideas would be greatfully appreciated.

Jake

Re: Transmission will not go in Reverse

It sounds like it's a severe internal problem...

Re: Transmission will not go in Reverse

When I had the problem in mine, it was caused by fluid that hadn't been changed regularly and an extremely clogged filter. All we had done was changed the filter, cleaned the metal fragments off the magnets in the pan, and replaced the fluid with new, and worked. If you have a transmission specialist in your area, most will perform a check for free.
