Can anyone tell me what the timing is set on for this truck?

Not sure but I "think" mine is set 10 or 12 degrees advanced.
You might wanna try The Ranger Station website. They have forums for different engine types and have experienced people who should be able to help you out. Good luck

I not sure about the '88. But my '89 2.9L V6 is timed at 10 degrees before top dead center @ 800 RPM. It may or may not be the same timing. My tech books don't show much about timing other than to look at the label under the hood.
