hi,
i've just purchased a 2000 Taurus SE. I have a couple of questions; 1. All of a sudden I realized that both of the brake signals and one of the rear lights are gone. And the transiver (remote) was gone a couple of days before that. I think one or two fuses might have gone.. Any suggestions or comments, like which fuses should I check, etc. 2. When the engine is off, the transmission stick is stuck at the P position. In order to be able to move that, I turn the ignition keys a little, get the stick to position N and only then be able to turn the engine on. And if I get it to P position, it does not move from there unless i turn the engine off and repeat the above process. Any ideas? thanks in advance yalin |

I'm going to work on the other problem now. I plan to remove the top plastic cover directly behind steering wheel. I suspect that some sort of cam has moved from its original position. Hope that you find the same solution with your brake lights. Mike G. |

a couple of days ago i took the car to a dealer. they told me that "brake switch harness something" is broken and has to be replaced. After the replacement, brake lights and the sticky shifter were operational again. They charged me an hour for the diagnosis, another half an hour for replacement and about $30 for the so called harness. hope this gives an idea for fixing your problem regards, yalin |
