What Amp should I get for Alpine type r sub?
Hi,
I'm new to this audio stuff and was wondering what kind of amp/s (or specs) would I need to power 1 alpine type r sub? What about 2 subs? Thanks for the help ! |

I would go with the JBL 600.1 or the 1200.1, these are very good amps for the money. I know I have a JBL 600.1 runnin 2 Adire Shivas and it works great! Just if you decide to go with thwe 1200.1, make sure that you watch your gain settings. Also remember when working with DVC subs, there are many ways to wire them to take differant Ohm loads, and this can also play a part in how much power you decide to give them.

what ohm are they, did you get the dual 4 ohm or dual 2 ohm subs? if you got the dual 4ohm subs, get two Alpine MRD-M300 amps, or if they are dual 2ohm, get the MRD-M500 amp.

SHIT SON! Are you insane? 1200.1? Youll blow it in no time. Get the JBL 300.1 or 600.1 NO WAY in hell should you get the 1200.1

I say still get the 1200.1, just keep it turned down, that way if you ever want to power 2 of them, you are able to without buyin another amp

Re: What Amp should I get for Alpine type r sub?
i agree. if u have 1 sub, get the dual 4ohm and wire the sub in series to get 8ohm. the JBL would put out around a bit over 300 watts. decide to get another sub, wire the second one in series and then parallel both to get 4ohm. 600 watts total so still each sub gets 300. now if u are very careful, wire everything in parallel to get that 1ohm load and booya! ~1300 watts RMS (750 per sub). headroom is nice eh? lol..
now if you're sure to only get one sub, get the 600.1. if u need to save money and know u don't need another sub and don't need much volume, go with the 300.1

Yeah, if youre just getting one sub...dont get the 1200.1, if youre gonna end up getting 2 eventually, get the 1200.1, but otherwise stick with the 600.1. TRUST ME, youll be satisfied with one though...I installed one in my buddies integra last weekend, that thing fuckin pounds, and it only has 250 watts goin to it, its loud as fawk.

hmmm, I kinda like Audiobahn's monoblock amps or their high current amps for subs, I'm not really familiar with alpine subs but you may want to look into these amps for them. i'm gonna be gettin the Audiobahn monoblock 18001Q (off the top of my head i think that is the number) in the spring to power my audiobahn 1205Q's..... mmmnnn 1800wattsx1 at 1 ohm oohhhh, instant back massage while driving..... haha
