Exclamation Question on 96 ES300

Hello forum,
This is my first time on this forum. I hope I can get some good info on here. I am looking at purchasing a 96 ES300. The car has 96K miles and is going for $8,900. I am not very familiar with Lexus vehicles so any info on this car is appreciated. I am unsure of buying this car since it has almost 100K miles on it. Can anyone tell me how long these engines tend to last? Can I expect another 100K out of this engine assuming it has been maintained correctly? Also, any common problems with this model to watch out for. All your help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Re: Question on 96 ES300

If the engine is properly maintained, you can expect at least 250,000mi out of it before any major internal repairs will need to be conducted. As far as I know, I've heard of no problems in those models..

I purchased a 95 ES300 with 65,000 miles. Now have 145,000 miles with no problems. I was also told by my mechanic that the engines were very durable and should last to about 250,000 if well maintained. Watch out for some control panel lighting going out which can be costly to replace. Needles on tach and speedometer flickering, poor back lighting on automatic AC controls. Can get used parts, but new cluster panel for needles can run several hundred as can the AC panel.

Hope this helps.

Re: Question on 96 ES300

Please don't respond to old threads like this one. The OP has certainly made up his mind about buying the car by this time.
