91 Legacy Air Struts

Looking for Help on trouble shooting rear air struts on a 91 Legacy GL.
Can they be replaced with regular coil struts?

Had same problem with my VZ Legacy.

Front air struts replaced okay with coil.

Rear not so lucky due to size of tyres. Was running 205/55R16 which when on coils rubbed the walls when going through any depressions - even with heavy duty coils.

Problem solved by forcing/inserting a tube of motor bike tyre sealant into the air strut. Both rear struts needed the treatment and they have both lasted for 12 months so far.

Else go back to narrow profile tyre.

Cheers
