The 93 is the best year, If you are modding I would stay away from the 91-92 unless you are going to rebuild the engine and trans.

The only difference I know of is 93-ups have 4 bolt mains vs the 2 bolt mains in the early models. It doesn’t make much difference unless you are going to try and pump more then 450hp through them.

actually the whole bottom end is different, but that is only noticeable when you are seriously modding the car.
Listing the differences. 93 has 4 bolt main, 91-92 does not 93 has forged connecting rods, 91-92 does not 93 has forged crankshaft, 91-92 does not 93 has forged steel inserts inside cast aluminum pistons, 91-92 does not 93 has forged steal 25 spline output shaft, 91-92 have a cast 18 spline. 93 has stronger internals in the transfer case, and is a different design than the 91-92. |

The 93 trans will fit in the 92 if you have a 93 transfercase. Some of the later 92's came the 93 stuff I think, but dont quote me on that. That is the only thing I can think of. Unless he is talking about putting a 6 speed in the car. In that case you would need a 6 speed transfercase and maybe the rear end too.

no im not plannign on puting a 6 speed in there. i heard the 5 speed can go faster in teh quarter mile so thats what im looking for. also i dont plan on getitnga whoel new engine. i just wanan change SIMPLE things inside the car to what a 94-99 has. but if i could find soemthing cheaper and alot better than anything stock ill for sure get that instead. i just want the car to be atleast performance wise as good as 94+
oh and if anyone knows.. how come the 91-3 have 300hp and the 94+ have 320? thanks |

5 speeds are better inthe 1/4. And the 20hp difference is because of the 2-2psi difference in boost. 8-9psi vs 11-12psi

silver,
the 94-99 have subtile changes throught the years but are all basicly the same car. The biggest change was in 99 when the front bumper, lights, rear spoiler, and lifters changed. |
