underdrive pully

hey i was planning on putting an underdrive pully on my neon this winter, but i have heard some negative things about them. i was just wundering if there r n e negative side effects to putting an underdrive pully on it.

the only thing negative for me is that it will actually underpower your generator and I have a 1200 watt sound system installed. Definetly not good. The reason the pulley does this is that it actually turns the generator slower. Also it underpowers the power steering and AC but I don't really care about that part. Also the stock Pulley is supposed to be a vibration damper and it keeps the crankshaft balanced correctly and from vibrating too much. I'd guess that couldn't be too good for your rods if the crank vibrated more. That is if the pulley really does this. I too plan on putting a pulley on but only before race day so I won't need my sound system on. I thought that maybe a bigger amp generator might cure this but I'm not sure on that one too. I've heard that it cold overcharge my battery and either blow it or boil it. I don't know but few things are worse than acid where it doesn't belong. What negative things have you heard?
