new suspension

I have a '94 Integra LS and I wanna get totally new suspension. Here's what I'm thinking:

Springs: Eibach 1.5" lowering ProKit
Shocks: Koni Yellows

Would their be anything else I'd need? What else is involved with suspension that I should change while I"m having someone install this? thanks.

Edit: I'm running 205/50/15 Toyo Proxies (they're about an inch wider than stock -- will I encounter rubbing with this setup?)

If you're only going for ride comfort, then that seems fine, not too low of a drop and koni's are great. If you want to go for better steering, traction, and stuff like that, save up and buy a Comptech Rear Sway/Tie Combo kit, then possibly an upper front tower bar by comptech, neuspeed, mugen, don't go DC sports.

So for performance will those shocks/springs work well? I kidn of want a mix. Also I'm planning on putting around 1200-1400 into this. Would those springs/shocks + comptech sway bars + strut bars + labor be feasable? Any input on how much all of that will improve my handling?

edit: are strut bars and sway bars easy to install or is that something you'd want to hire a mechanic for?

Re: Re: Re: new suspension

Koni Yellows - great shocks/struts/dampers www.koni.com
Eibach Pro-kit - great performance springs

I suggest uprading the strut mounts to poly while its all apart. Camber kit is ALWAYS a good idea when lowering even .5", but 2" or more is when it is really needed IMO.

Rear sway is the most important bar on a FWD car, then comes lower rear tie, then upper strut braces, & finally a lower front tie. Try to purchase an adjustable rear sway.

Strut bars are SIMPLE to install, almost as easy as changing a shift knob. The sway bars are little more complicated, but also easy.

A sway bar or larger one would be used at the front of FWD car only if the rear wheel lifts during steady cornering, and if the car leans too much. So use a front bar with caution unless you like heavy under-steer on your FWD car. Most sway bars are used on the front suspension, except FWD. It adds more roll stiffness to the front, which reduces rear suspension weight transfer in a turn. This delays or eliminates lifting one of the drive wheels, and may create an understeering by increasing the loading on the outside of the front tires.

Most production cars use a sway bar, usually in the front, but they are a compromise for average driving conditions. This means the sway is stiff enough to limit roll to acceptable point if the car is driven "normally". If hard driving is the normal operating condition for the car, typical production sways are not stiff enough. They allow so much roll that on a car with independent suspension the tires may operate at a positive camber angle in a turn. Stiffer/larger front sway make the car unpredictable. A car that rolls less is a lot more fun to drive. I could type a 5 page thing about sway bars on FWD, but I think this should do . . . . RWD is COMPLETELY opposite.

dang jackass, thanks. if i hadn't read that i'd have probably put a front sway bar on LOL. So right now would this be lookin good on suspension:

1) Strut Mounts
2) Springs
3) Struts
4) rear sway bar

then i can add strut bars later on. when i have $$ again hehe. Is their anything else that i'm going to wanna have done when everything is apart and i have somebody workin on it? I hear a lot about brushings maybe it'd be worth my whiel to have those replaced too?

EDIT: are tie bars the same thing as strut bars?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: new suspension

I posted about the bushings in your other post(i think it was yours). If you go more than a 2" drop, you will need a camber kit. Make sure the bump stops get cut in half & also replace any shocks boots if needed - I'd put new ones since new parts are going on the car, but thats me. If they are still good, then really no reason to replace.

Tie bars & strut bars are the samething, just different terms. The difference comes in Front to Rear and Upper or Lower. Rear lower tie & Rear sway are a good combo. The uppers really don't do much, the biggest improvement is looks.
