Re: Re: JDM D15B vtec
I found on D-Series.org that you do use the z6 timing belt and anything for the head. You use the Vx motor (1.5) for the alt. belt and water pump

Kdog,
You don't have to post almost the same exact thing in all of the D15b topics, The info is just as good in one thread. Thanx for the info though. |

Re: JDM D15B vtec
my apologies.....I did a search for d15b and just thought I might try to lend some of my experience and knowledge.....I would really like to get people turned onto this engine because I would really like some good internal upgrade parts to become available.......
I'm tired of hearing "b series this and b series that" SOHC is better in alot of ways and I'm trying to prove it. At least you were nice about it though...thanx!!!!!!!! |

Dumped91hatch, I'm going with the Civic VX timing belt, water pump, and alt. belt.
By the way, the engines we got are not '3-stage' vtec engines. 3-stage vtec was on 96+ model civics, and the engines we got are out of EG civics. The D16Z6 head is just your regular run of the mill vtec head, and the p08 ECU is a less aggressive brother of the p28 ECU used for the D16Z6. More info to come, but I'm tired and forgot what I was going to say.

I only assume it's because the Z6 has 'slightly' larger displacement, but I got my info from talking with the guy at hmotorsonline extensively about the engine before actually buying it, and that's what he told me about it.
As for the horse power figures... I'm still unsure about that one... I have yet to see a dyno chart showing how much horse power the D15B actually has... will know for sure after I have mine dyno'd.

d16z6 is 125hp
d15b is 130ps which is roughly 128hp. the extra horsepower can be attributed to differing emissions controls and higher octane fuel and other small factors. the D16Z6 and D15B both have a P08 head. they are identical. |

this is all assumption, but I do know that the p08 ecu uses a 1-wire oxygen sensor and the p28 uses a 4-wire heated oxygen sensor...maybe thats the difference?
