Saturn SC2 vs Cavalier Z24
Long story short, my friend has a Z24... he thinks he's better than me in almost every way. He's been driving standard for about a year and a half now, me since march. I'm 18 by the way. Anyways, he always thought he's a better driver by far in every way, and he could always beat me before. He took every oppurtunity he could to put my car down. Now I've been driving a while, and I'm always trying to be a better driver. So I say to him, if you think you're so much better, let's go to an industrial area and race. He laughs, I say don't be a pussy. He agrees, and we go.
We line it up, off the line he spins the tires like a madman, while I launch properly. I've got at least a car on him right off the line. Shift into second, he's catching up slowly but surely. Shift into third it's only about half a car. Top of third the end of the street's coming up quick and I start on the brakes hard. We stop, he's ASTONISHED... and very pissed  I say to him, "5 words...It's All About The Driver." He's fuming. We both had a friend in each car. He's pissed, wants to go again, so we go again. Pretty much same thing, except this time I launched it practically perfect and take like 2 cars on him off the line. He's having a bad run, I'm having a good one. I shifted well all throughout, by the end I still had about a car on him. He's pissed again. So we go again. This time, I didn't even bother launching well for some reason...Just hit the rev limiter in Neutral (bouces 4,200-4,400ish) and dropped the clutch. Even off the line, and he takes me about 3/4 car by the end. He comes out, he's like, "See what happens when I try." I'm laughing cuz now he thinks he's better again. So I goad him into one more. I'm smoking him once again and he stops after second. So I turn around and he's gotten out of his car and popped his hood. He's like "I think I broke something." He makes all these excuses about this and that, his car's not running right. He won't admit it, but turns out from what he said, he put it in 5th instead of third or something as far as I can tell. Now he's saying he got his car dyno'd (i think it's bullshit) and it's only at like 135whp. I'm pretty sure it's bullshit about the dyno, because he said he got it done at Canadian Tire, and I was at one a while ago, and checked his story. I asked them if they have a dyno, or if there is any Canadian Tire that can check the HP/Tq on a car. They say no. But even if he's right, I'm thinking, 98 z24 has like 150hp at the crank, 135 at the wheels sounds about right. My 2001 Saturn SC2 has 124HP/122ft-lbs. at the crank. To this day, he still says he's a better driver, but everyone else knows I am. Now when he puts my car down, or says it's slow, I just say, "Smoked you 3 out of 4". Hahahaha, that'll teach him. Arrogant prick. Does anyone happen to know a 1/4 time for both cars. 98 z24 and 2001 SC2? PapaShlapa

Saturn and a Cavalier, HUH?? Who cares it's a Saturn and Cavi. But at least you beat him.... i think.

I used to have a 96 Sc2 and they arent too bad, but the cav should be faster. Thats a good kill.
p.s. If you want a Short shifter then take off your center console, use a hacksaw on your shifter a cut it about 2.5 to 3 inches. then get a aftermarket shift knob from your local parts store and replace your console and put the new knob on the shorter handle. The throw should be shorter than that of a miata. It will make you a lot faster too once you get used to it.
