I bought a used 2000 Silverao and attempted to change my front brake pads. The bolt holding the calipers takes a special tool. Anyone know what size Torx bit I need to buy?

i had the same problem as you. i was able to barrow one from my local Kragan store. U just give them your license or credit card and there you go. I believe it is a 10 or 14 but i dont know off hand. Just take an allen wrench that fits snug in the hex bolt, they take the allen to your local auto shop and match the allen to the center circle of the hex. The allen should be a bit smaller since when you first checked the diameter that allen wasnt able to fit in the points.

Re: Caliper bolt?
Hi, you need a T-55 Torx bit. Snap-On # FTX55E, I'm sure you can get one cheaper at Sears or any part store
