Unhappy 03 ram 5.7 hemi stalling

I have a 2003 ram 5.7 SXT standard cab short bed patriot blue I baught it in JAN 2003 and sometimes when shifting form drive to reverse or reverse to drive the engine starts to run real ruff and has no power i can floor it and it may only get up to 10 miles per hour I would have to stop and shut the engine down and restart it for it to run right again I contacted the dealer and they say there is nothing they can do because the check engine light isnt on so they can't duplicate the problem because it doesn't happen all the time
if any one has had the same problem and know of a tsb that talkes about this prob let me know where I can find this tsb and print it out so I can take it to the dealer and show them

Re: 03 ram 5.7 hemi stalling

I have the exact same problem!!! It has gone away for some time now, and I can't pinpoint it for why though. Hot or cold engine, moist or sunny out, cold or hot out. no idea what is going on but based on my car experience I believe it is a sensor that is malfunctioning for the idle air control if I had to bet. It is throwing the whole thing off but it is wierd cuz nothing in particular I do makes it go away.

I just haven't had time to make it to dealer yet, but my email is [email protected] and I will contact you when I find something out.

Sucks to by a 30+K vehicle and have this happen.

Mine doesnt lose power or anything, but when shifting from reverse to drive it does this shuddering thing. It only does it once in a great while. I havent contacted anyone about it yet though. If you find out anything let me know.
thanks,
Jodi

Viper7383,

If you are still experiencing this problem you can find extensive info on it over at http://dtw.truckmoxie.com/forums/ . Go into the HEMI section and search for "flash" or stalling....there are many posts regarding this.

From what I have read you have to take it to the dealership and have them flash the computer with an update to correct these issues.

Yes, get it flashed and I think you'll be a happy camper.

Angry 02 Ram 1500 5.9L Stalling

I have a similar problem with my 2002 Ram 1500 5.9L hesitating when I first start it up. Like others in this thread have mentioned, it does not matter what the ambient temperature is outside. You will see I have started a new thread about my lack of low end power and my plugs fouling to the point the check engine light comes on. I have installed a Jet Chip at the recommendation of the dealer to remedy this and other issues but with no solid fix. I suspect the computer myself.

I too have had this problem, the only thing I could figure was that my hand bumped the overdrive button while going from reverse to drive. The dealer said they could hook up a companion (monitors enging or computer) or they could flash the comp. I will look into the other thread that was posted also.

Hemi stall

I have the same problem with the engine stalling. I correct the problem by turning the engine off then restarting it. I have not told the dealer about this problem yet. Is there a TSB with respect to this issue?

Unhappy 5.7 Hemi Stalling

Oh, my 5.7 Hemi is stalling at almost every light and stop sign. I guess I need to make an appt at the dealer, but am wondering what it could be. Has anyone who has run into this figured out what the issues are?

TIA,
erik

Just read about your stalling problem. I just got an 05 Rumble Bee and it is doing the same thing just less frequent. Replaced and recallibrated ETC and MAP but still no luck. Thinking about going lemon. Let me know if you fixed yours.

Re: 03 ram 5.7 hemi stalling

My problem was a bad tank of gas. Period. Istay away from the small Ma-and-Pa station where I got that tank-full, and I have been fine ever since!

Update: Apparently, not the problem. Stalling again, and I'm feeding her 89 octane from the big guy stations.

Also have poor performance on the highway, but apparently there is another issue, and a flash for this one.
