Man, I've built that kit before. While it is phenomeonally detailed (especially considering it was first released by IMC in the mid 60's) those opening features are a bitch and a half to get together.

Take your time, though, and you'll have an incredible model of a really neat car.

...6th coat of candy? did you do a base coat first? your supposed to put a base of silver or gold...so you see those colors underneath.......that looks pretty light for 6 coats if you did do a base

Does it drip hanging off a tree branch? Just fold up a wire coat hanger and use that on a piece of scrap wood man, works wonders and doesn't cost a thing.

well, after the the paint dryed, (1coat primer, 1 coat silver, and 6 coats clear) i didnt really get the results i wanted, the color was too light and i decided it might look better red, so, anybody know any easy ways (other than sanding the hell out of it) to get the old paint off? or can i just paint over it?

p.s. pardon my ignorance, i was under the impression candy was the same as clear coat....

Do a search I am sure there is something on here on stripping, but the best thing to do is soak in Castrol Super Clean or Brake fluid.

Re: progress: 63 Ford Cougar II

Okay, well im trying to graduate this spring, so school is a bitch... but i have managed to clean the car up with some sanding and a new coat of paint. I changed my mind again and painted it a nice blue, i'll post pics when its dry enough to take out of the booth.

p.s. i made a spray booth and ditched the tree ;^)
