Radar Detector install on 2003
I've just recently purchased a 03 Silverado. I am trying to hardwire my radar dectector into the hot wires that are connected to the map lights in the overhead console. I did this on my 01 Silverado no problem. Worked fine.. well.. this 03 has 3 wires heading to the lights. Red, Black/white, and black.. I've tried the combination of black/white, and black, and also a red, black combo without any sucess.. Before I mess something up, could someone let me know the combination.
Thanks. |

Not sure aobut the wiring combos... I believe one of them is hot (12V), one is the autodim and one is the ground. You need a constant 12V and a good ground. I did this on my 2000 Grand Am GT by putting a meter on the wires and waiting for the autodim to time out.
BEFORE I MESS SOMETHING UP... can you tell me how to get the map light console out? I have tried once, I took the single screw out and tried to pull it down... are there any other screws? Is there a trick? I don't want to pull or pry too much. Any help would be appreciated. |
