End of the Bird....

70 on the freeway and the back of a truck.....

First, i'm fine, my head got bashed good because my seatbelt didnt work but overall I walked away.

I was on my way to my new home and the first day at the new shop *I transfered stores so I could live with my girl* and I was crusin at a mild 70. Traffic was slowing down, so I followd and started slowing with the flow...The truck ahead of me mashed hard and stoped, I tryed too, even cocked the wheel trying to make it into the carpool lane but hit the truck after slowin to about 50. The nissan pickup I slid under (because the bird diped for how hard I was braking) let off the brakes and whooped the back of a black F250. My shoulderbelt dosent stop me, and I nail the wheel, steady myself and get out. I ask them if they are ok and tell them I have insurance. The guy with the 250 mumbles something....like troll speek or something...and says "best of luck to ya both" and drives off. By now i'm shaking bad, the bird is destroyed, my head was sbashed and I know I wont be able to afford my move. I hand him my phone and ask him if he can call the police. "What do you want me to do?"
me-"We need to call CHP..."
him-"I dont have a licence...or insurance"
Me-"well....my insurance will fix your car but..."
Him-"They will arrest me!"
Me- *all extra brian spilman like* "AND they will impound your truck!"
him-".....bye"

and off he went....so I nolonger have the bird, but I bought an 87MR2 so I could make it up there to help setup the shop and get my life on track.

Kinda fitting the bird dying...kinda like the end of that phase of my life....

all in all though, life is turning out pretty good, thought you all might like to know why I wont be posting much with the move and all, and those who knew the legend of the bird might like to know the end of that beast.

I can't help but laugh at the randomness of that... it's good to know you're ok...

Poor bird...

Matt, I hope you realise... you've never had a car that has survived you.

Damn, that really does suck. If you had reported it to your insurence company, filing it as a 3 car accident, then your insurence would have sky rocketed, mine did. However, glad to know your ok.

First of all, I'm glad to hear you walked away. Sounded like a real adrenaline pumper. To bad about the car, but it can be replaced. I hope your move works out as well as you hope it does.

As a side note - there are just to many damn people on the road without insurance.

A true bummer. There were a great many god parts on that Bird.

Say, what's the name and address of the junkyard I'll be able to swipe the hulk out of?

I'm selling the car as a whole for 500 because the engine and trans are fine, and it has new tires.

Couldnt get the plates, but he did break down, AND CHP got to him before the tow truck *I listened as I was being towed* so they may have pulled him in, may not have. Eather way he probally had a heart attack from it.

The swap SHOULD be done saturday, and hes going to break it in for me sunday so I can pick it up next time i'm down home *monday* so yah, then just like 100 miles of easy clutch work and i'm good.

The MR2 grips like you wouldnt believe...but when you actually DO break it loose it flips around hard being a mid engine and all. Fun as all hell though

You better hit me up with a ride in the 240 after you make a few pulls on me
