99 Alarm Issues

I think the problem stems back to my 56036859AC Transmitter. Sometimes it does not want to lock the doors. Unlock usually seems to work. Have replaced batteries to no avail.

Main problem is I managed to set off the alarm (panic button), and could not get it shut off. Ended up doing some combination of key pressed (on transmitter) while opening and closing the driver's door. It was very frustrating, and even more embarrassing.

Any ideas? I've read some TSB's that talk about radio signals, I do work at a radio station, but I have this problem everywhere I go. Also heard I can get the transmitter replaced?

thx

Got the new transmitter today...AD transmitter. Same problems. I do work in radio, so I'm near a tower. But even at home sometimes it just won't lock. Unlock seems to be a little more reliable, but not much.

Anyone?

You sure you got the right remote? Jeep used 2 different remotes for these cars for no reason. If you have the right remote, you might be limited to getting a new keyless entry system. Get an aftermarket one becuase the OEM unit is way too expensive. You could get an alarm/remote starter from DEI for the cost of the OEM unit!!!

I heard the stock alarm couldn't be turned off, or something to that effect. I'd prefer to have remote start capabilities...how much do you figure I'll have in a new alarm/keyless entry/remote start, installed?

Well, here in Ohio I sell the ones you saw in the link for about $400 installed in your vehicle

Oh, it's just one wire you need to hook up inorder to kill the factory alarm. Unless you live in a high crime area, just get a remote start with out an alarm. Those run about $300 or less depending what you pick out.

How long does it take to install, and where exactly in Ohio are you located?

Hey wow. Small world. I could come to you too if you like but I would have to tack a few little more for travel. 90% of my work is done mobil. I actually like it more than being stuck in a shop. The only thing I do not like is getting wet.
