Re: up grade Nissan RB30E 3.0L Straight Six
Dude, i wouldn't do it. The RB26 is good enough. besides, the RB's aren't ment for truck turbos. RB stands for Racing Bred. Putting a truck turbo isn't gonna help. But i don't think it'll do harm.

Boy that was insightful
ZZII, take a seat.I do not know what the comp ratio is for that engine, so I really cannot help you, but I can get the ball rollin. If its a N/A engine to begin with I would imagine the comp ratio would be fairly high. So, unless you go into the engine to decrease the comp, you would not be able to boost that much. But, I like high comp ratio with smaller amounts of boost, to me it make a better street engine. Like I said to me. I will say that a 3liter, with a truck turbo does sound appealing to me as well. Also, the heads are the iron or alum?

I believe thier alum? Is it an old VL Comadore by anychance? or a Cefiro? And what sort of truck Turbo? If its off a desiel then it will be set up to run far to much boost, at far to low rpm for the RB30 to handle.

The RB30E engine was factory in the VL Comadore yes, but the cefiero used the RB20 series engines.
The block is much weaker than the RB26 block. Dimension wise it is the same length but is much taller. It has I believe nearly the same bore of the Rb26 with a much longer stroke to make up the capacity. Also the cradle to support the crankshaft is again not as strong as the turbo series. It also lacks the oil quirters to cool the pistons from underneith. I believe the compression ratio was 9.4 - 1. Guys have used this block in combination with RB26 heads or RB25DET heads. It is a formatable street combination if not pushed in hp say over 750hp. I am honestly not sure on the hp rating of the block itself. I've seen three skylines with that block in it. 2 R32 GTS4's and a GTS25t with it. The two GTS4's us a single turbo conbination with on using the RB25DEt head, the R33 GTS25t is using an RB26 head with now a T8833D on it. All have made good power but nothing spectacular. Oviously the the T88 combo made the most at about 550hp while the GTS4 from Taupo has made just under that but with NOS assist. They produced truck loads of torque though which is why I say they make a good street engine.

Re: up grade Nissan RB30E 3.0L Straight Six
Wasnt it also used in R30 and R31 skyline? in both Turbo and non Turbo form?
I seem to remember the early Jim Richards Skylines being 3.0 Turbos, and I know Holden simply bought the engine straight from Nissan where it was used in a variety of existing models.

Re: up grade Nissan RB30E 3.0L Straight Six
Razor GTR is pretty much on the money. The RB 30 was used both in the commodores and many 31 skylines. It is not probably as strong as the 26 but is still a strong bottom end and can handle some serious power especially with good pistons etc. I know a 33 GTR with a Rb30 block and 26 head that has over 450rwkw and running a single custom turbo and pulls hard from 4000rpm to 9500rpm. However this is a very expensive upgrade. If you are looking to turbo the engine try to pick up a cheap one already with a Turbo set up on it and look to upgrade Turbos stc but just don't go too full on. I am unsure how the comp was dropped in the Turbo motors but would think it was to do with head gaskets etc.
