Re: Ford Focus SVT???

Yup there is a Focus SVT. Chances are it wasn't riced out though. Since you have never seen or heard of one, then all you are familiar with is the normal Focus. An SVT Focus would looked riced out with its body kit, if all you had to base it on was a regular run of the mill Focus.

the focus was a european designed car, and it runs on the ford Ztec motor. its a 2.0 liter it was German based, British engine that was tuned by Americans. its the second most powerful focus that you can get in the world. the number one would be the focus RS in europe.

Actually, don't mind me if I correct you a bit on that one. The Focus Rallye-Sport is a fwd car with about 210HP. Pretty powerful, considering the car but, the most powerful production Focus would be the WRC-ready Cosworth-Focus, with AWD, and about 300HP on tap. Ford is actually contemplating bringing this car in to the US to compete specifically against the Evo and the STi.

That or at least give us the RS. The SVT is worthless in its current form.

the cosworth focus really is being sold as a street legal version? oooh yeah i forgot that the WRC regulations states that the cars must be sold to the public. but how come i've seen nothing on it? usually they always talk about the RS and that they were planning on making a cosworth version of the focus.

Angry Svt

ford sucks for not giving us a better svt focus darn them...giving a better one to a foriegn(excuse spelling) country and not to their own?!
they need a car to compete with the neon srt 4 and the new 200 horse red line ion! (and we still only have a 4 speed auto in the lightning svt needs to work more!)

Nameless Dork, the Focus IS a foreign car. It was initially developed in England for English driving tastes (hence the competent suspension) and shares its parts bin with the Puma and Ka.

Ford of England produced the Focus first, and Cossie Focuses are purely English affairs.

As for the lack of prowess of the SVT Focus, remember that it was intended to compete with the Civic Si and Sentra SE-R V-Spec. It does this easily, but the forced induction SRT-4 and now the Saturn Ion are in a new league of sport compacts. The SVT Focus is still a great handling car with plenty of power to take on NA fours under 2.0L. But a 2.4L turbo-four is going to take it down if tuned to the same level.

I'm more interested in knowing when we're going to see a balls-out FR Miata fighter using one of those SRT-4 engines.
