Question supercharger oil

In the instruction manual, it says that i should have the oil in the supercharger checked every 30,000 miles. I don't want to take it to a dealer to do that, so is there a way i can do it myself? If I can, where can I get oil for it?

Re: supercharger oil

You have to get the oil from the dealer. You'll need 2 bottles of it, and if I remember correctly, it's like $8 or $9 a bottle. Not 100% sure though. You'll also need a turkey baster, or some sort of suction device, to remove the old oil from the supercharger.

It's not a difficult task. Last time I did it was under a park shelter roof in the pouring rain....right before we did a snout swap

Thumbs up suction device

The best and easiest thing to use as suction device is a squirt bottle top with a fairly long tube coming out of it, then just squirt it all out into a container. I changed it out whille it was still relatively hot which made that tube very flexable in order to get into the tight spaces.

But, how do you know if you need to add oil. Is there some kind of mark that tells you when you need to, or do you just need to change the oil every 30,000 miles, because in the book is just says to check it.

the oil should be up to the threading on the bolt.
the dealership will suggest just topping it off, b/c they don't change it as part of maintenance, or so i was told. but if you take the old stuff out, you'll see it's some shade of brown. the new stuff is nice and clear.
