Hard Starting 2000 Silverado

Hi - I have a 2000 Silverado 5.3L Z71 SLT. About 6 months ago I had trouble starting the truck after it sat- cranks and would not fire for a minute or so. Turned out to be a fuel pressure regulator. Changed regulator with dealer part. $100.00 for part. Ran fine. Now I am having trouble starting again. This time the trouble is there no matter if it has sat or I just drove it. I checked the line on the pressure regulator and this time there is no fuel coming out (as the bad on did).

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Re: Hard Starting 2000 Silverado

Its hard to give you a definate answer without doing some diagnosis, but a couple things you can do to see if it helps.
First, check the throttle body...the throttle bodys on those trucks are know for "coking" (getting really dirty in simple terms) sometimes a good cleaning of the throttle blade and bore with a choke/carb cleaner and a soft toothbrush and then wiping it out with a rag will help.
I would also check fuel pressure..might be a little low or bleeding down.

What might cause the bleeding down that I could check?

Re: Hard Starting 2000 Silverado

there is a check valve in the fuel pump..to check, you will need a fuel pressure gauge.
